Summary
The Public Health Planner position supports the Departments community health assessment work and community health improvement initiatives. This includes analyzing and interpreting community health data, translating findings into clear narratives for diverse audiences, and sharing data findings and their implications for community health improvement to the public and community partners through written reports and presentations. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and analytical thinker who is passionate about improving health outcomes at the community level. A bachelors degree in public health or a related field is required; a masters degree and prior public health experience are preferred.
This is an Essential Employee position. Essential employees are obligated to report to work as scheduled or remain at work during emergencies. Following is the Duty Statement for Essential Employees:
"Carries out essential job functions or assigned emergency duties which may involve assignments within the Department of Health Command Center, deployment to a field location to participate in public health activities, or other duties as required during periods of emergency. If received, emergency assignments may be performed under adverse conditions and continue for periods ranging from a few hours to several weeks."
Essential Duties
Qualifications/Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or trade school diploma, with coursework in, public health, health education, public policy, biological science, or a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
One to two years of public health experience.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and narrate public health data for various audiences
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prepare and maintain written and data reports/plans.
Accuracy and detailed oriented in data and written tasks.
Excellent organizational skills.
Customer service experience.
Ability to maintain confidential information and handle confidential matters.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, lift, or carry items, drive a vehicle during working hours, and talk or hear.
