Job Summary
Under general supervision, is assigned to a division within the City of San Antonios Metro Health District to assist in general administrative functions for the purpose of developing a working knowledge of a targeted area in public health. Performs internship duties in accordance with benchmarked professional positions. Level of duties performed depends on type of program and degree program the student is enrolled in. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. Exercises no supervision.
This position is an "unclassified" position and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.
The San Antonio Metro Health District (SAMHD) provides public health services to clients, which may include risk for exposure to and possible transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases. Staff in high-risk positions will be required to obtain relevant immunizations, per SAMHD Policy DM 13.2. Review and consideration will be given to requests for exemption from this policy.

Work Hours
Work schedules are flexible and vary by assignment and class schedule, but generally include up to 20 hours per week worked Monday - Friday during normal business hours, between 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; may vary by location or clinic hours.
