The Project:

Mace, as part of MPA delivery partner joint venture of Mace-Parsons-Arcadis, have been selected as the Gateway Development Commissions partners of choice to support the GDC across the Gateway Program in New York, inclusive of the Hudson Tunnel Project.

The busiest rail connection between New York, New Jersey, and the Northeast Corridor, the Hudson Tunnel Project will improve capacity, reliability, and resiliency of commuter and intercity rail transit serving 800,000 daily passengers from Washington, D.C. to New York and New England. A milestone project supported by the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), the project is slated to receive nearly $12 billion in federal funding, the largest investment in a mass transit project in modern history.

You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies and activities to provide project information to the media, community members, labor and industry groups, and other stakeholders.

  • Respond to questions about the project or GDC from the public and stakeholders.

  • Conduct outreach meetings, special events, and site tours with media, stakeholders, the public, and agencies.

  • Prepare and distribute outreach materials, including content, graphics, visual materials, videos, and audio programs.

  • Manage website development, postings, electronic updates, and social media campaigns.

  • Plan and execute events, including public board meetings and special stakeholder sessions.

  • Develop and deliver presentation materials, talking points, and internal messaging memos.

  • Implement press outreach, paid and earned media strategies, and media training.

  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies to maintain positive relationships with elected officials, funding parties, and stakeholders.

  • Prepare, implement, and regularly update an Outreach Plan for all outreach activities, processes, and procedures.

  • Coordinate with project contractors and oversee their outreach activities.

  • Support compliance with NEPA and other environmental and community benefit commitments through targeted outreach.

  • Support meaningful access to project information for persons with limited English proficiency and comply with FTA Title VI requirements.

  • Provide translation services and coordinate with interpreters as needed.

  • Maintain and distribute instructions for filing Title VI discrimination complaints and manage related communications channels.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in public information, communications, or stakeholder engagement, preferably in large infrastructure or transportation projects.

  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with media relations, event planning, and digital communications (web, social media).

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (NEPA, Title VI, DBE/SBE programs) and public sector communications best practices.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, web content management, and social media platforms.

Note: The estimated starting salary for this position is $120k. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
