Position Overview

The Public Information Officer will serve as a liaison between the organization and the public to maintain a positive image of the organization.

Compensation

  • $80,000.00

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Acts as the organization's spokesperson and responds to members of the media promptly; composes, reviews, and/or distributes press releases.
  • Promotes the organization's public image through interactions with business, industry, and local leaders.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop a public information strategy and guidelines for the organization.
  • Schedules public events such as speaking engagements and facilities tours.
  • Oversees external, public-facing communication and branding in various online and print platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and industry magazines.
  • Prepares and distributes public outreach mailings such as holiday cards, magazines,

brochures, newsletters, and similar efforts.

  • Produces, reviews, and/or distributes print and video materials for public distribution.
  • Develops and maintains positive professional relationships with members of the media and with local civic organizations.
  • Assists executive leadership in developing presentations, speeches, and other important public messages.
  • Schedules and plans for special events that are open to the public.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to write in a journalistic style that is customary for external publications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to offer sound media relations advice to senior leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to succeed in the position.
  • Valid Oklahoma Drivers License.
  • Preference given to a bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
