Coates Kokes (CK) is looking for a strategic-minded senior public relations manager to take the lead on client PR services.

The Ideal Candidate:

The successful candidate will be a skilled writer with PR experience. They should be comfortable with managing proactive and reactive public relations for multiple clients/accounts across different industries. That includes having established relationships with regional reporters and news outlets, and experience writing materials for the media, such as press releases, reactive statements, talking points and press kits. They will work alongside the broader team to assist in positioning client products, services and brands in the marketplace to achieve client and agency goals.

• Primary contact for key clients, running meetings, presenting ideas and managing expectations.
• Pitch stories to journalists, write and distribute press releases, secure media coverage, editing communications materials, and build relationships with key media figures.
• Develop and implement public relations campaigns, provide earned media training and interview prep to clients, create reports and presentations, and brainstorm creative promotional ideas.
• Help clients handle negative press or public scandals, control the narrative, and draft official statements to protect brand reputation.

Functional Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute innovative PR strategies that align with client objectives and agency goals.
• Build relationships with key media players, influencers and stakeholders across multiple industries.
• Collaborate across disciplines to create integrated campaigns and a team approach to problem-solving.
• Monitor and analyze PR results using data-driven metrics to refine approaches as needed.
• Manage the ?ow of news about client organizations to the media.
• Gather and disseminate timely information to press and sta?.
• Enhance the e?ectiveness of press and publicity function.
• Help oversee and execute client budgets and adhere to client compliance provisions/requirements.
• Strive to constantly gain knowledge pertinent to clients.
• Manage crisis communication efforts and provide strategic guidance to minimize negative exposure for clients and the agency.
• Report on team progress, insights, and adjustments to senior agency leadership.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements, incorporating new and effective practices into the agency's offerings.

Desired Experience

• Experience developing and executing innovative PR strategies.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Strong writing skills, including news releases, talking points, news articles, and recap reports.
• Organizational and project management skills to initiate and manage projects to completion.
• Ability to collaborate with others on the team from agency principal to more junior staff.

Bonus Experience:

• Interest in public policy and public affairs, ranging from public health to transportation and the built environment.
• Experience with business development.
• Expertise using research to inform campaign design and analytics to guide on-going implementation.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this job is $80,000 to $105,000. Currently, work at Coates Kokes is a hybrid work environment with all staff working in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays (and other occasions as needed for client projects) - and working from home the rest of the time.
