Public Relations Specialist JobID: 4199 Position Type: 2026 - 2027 Anticipated Opening/Certified StaffDate Posted: 9/30/2026Location: District-WideDate Available: 10/15/2026 Closing Date: until filled Additional Information: Show/HideHACKENSACK PUBLIC SCHOOLSPUBLIC RELATIONS SPECIALISTS2026 - 2027 S/Y Title: (2) Public Relations Specialist Qualifications:Demonstrated ability to write, edit, proofread and prepare clear, accurate and engaging communications for diverse audiences.Excellent digital literacy and technical skills.Experience with social media platforms, digital newsletters, district communication systems.Ability to establish a structured process for reviewing, prioritizing and creating/publishing communications materials.Ability to outreach and engage the community to identify and develop content and community stories that highlight student, staff, and district accomplishments and initiatives.Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate with administrators, staff and community stakeholders.Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure communications are accurate, timely, professional, accessible and consistent with district policies and procedures.Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and provide responsive communication support to district leadership.Active participation on district or school committees preferred.Able to work after school hours. Responsibilities may include:Establish a submission criteria and protocol collaboratively with the superintendent.Create a calendar of special days to be recognized throughout the school year.Provide public relations support to the district and based on specific criteria.Manage some aspects of the district website.Develop criteria and guidelines for website submissions and district communications.Establish a consistent submission, review, approval, and publication process.Develop standards for what information is appropriate for district-wide release, school-level release, website publication, and community outreach.Manage and regularly update the district website and online communications platforms.Develop and maintain a district communications calendar.Coordinate communications among the Superintendent's Office, schools, departments, and other district offices.Draft, edit, and/or coordinate press releases, website stories, announcements, newsletters, and community communications.Identify opportunities to proactively promote district programs, student accomplishments, staff achievements, and community partnerships.Ensure communications are consistent with the district's voice, branding, policies, and strategic priorities.Submit news worthy articles to the City of Hackensack Newsletter coordinating with the superintendent's office.Monitor website content for accuracy, timeliness, accessibility, and consistency.
