The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is responsible for conserving and enhancing the states wildlife, fisheries, and parks, providing quality outdoor recreation, and engaging the public in natural resource conservation. The marketing and communications department promotes and enhances the agencys brand and services while communicating the importance of conservation and protecting the states natural resources. This involves conducting market research, developing marketing strategies and campaigns, creating promotional materials, managing social media and digital marketing efforts, coordinating public relations efforts, and analyzing marketing metrics to determine the effectiveness of marketing efforts. Additionally, the marketing department is responsible for collaborating with all other departments within the agency to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all channels.
About the Position
This is a time limited position (NS-14). The MDWFP Marketing Manager is a key member of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) marketing team and plays a vital role in advancing the agency's mission. This position oversees a broad scope of operations and resources, directing a diverse team of staff and specialists to ensure the successful delivery of both internal and external services. With financial accountability, the Marketing Manager aligns resources with agency goals defined by statute, grants, and agency policy. As a member of the marketing leadership team, this role is central to organizational planning, strategic decision-making, and public outreach efforts. The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies, managing multiple departmental units, and engaging regularly with other state agencies, and community stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of target audiences, markets, and experience leading successful marketing campaigns. This position requires collaboration with bureau representatives and MDWFPs marketing and communications team across all stages of campaign development, outreach initiatives, and promotional efforts. Key responsibilities include overseeing the marketing and communication department's efforts. Including: • Support overall marketing strategy • Oversee campaign digital media • Manage department purchasing • Project management • Monitor high-level analytics • Lead communications planning • Support external agency contracts • Support annual marketing budgets • Enforce agency brand standards • Supervise marketing team members Candidates should be equally comfortable with day-to-day marketing tasks and long-term planning, continuously seeking innovative ways to expand the audience, reach and meet the evolving needs of the agency. A big part of this job is balancing the big picture with daily tasks. You'll be managing a team, handling purchasing and vendor contracts, and protecting the agency's brand.

Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 3-4 years of experience.
