Public Safety Communications Shift Supervisor

Position Summary

Supervises the receiving and dispatching of requests for police services to the community on a shift. Instructions are received from the Public Safety Communications Manager on matters of policy and legal matters. A Police Communications Shift Supervisor must have the ability to analyze situations quickly and respond with appropriate action within department guidelines. The employee exercises considerable independent judgment and work is reviewed by the Public Safety Communications Manager. In the absence of the Public Safety Communications Manager the incumbent of this class will supervise the Communications Center. Supervision is exercised over Police Communications Officers.
