Position Description

The Public Safety Applications team, a part of the Business Solutions Division of Seattle Information Technology, is seeking candidates to join us as the Public Safety Systems Administrator (ITP-B, BU).

Job Responsibilities

This position serves as primary support for multiple systems and customers related to City of Seattle public safety departments. Many of the systems supported by our team are critical to public safety and to our city's first responders.

We collaborate closely with members of the Seattle Fire Department, Seattle Police Department, and the Community Assisted Response & Engagement (CARE) team to provide essential support to the systems they utilize daily. We rely on our ability to build strong relationships with our customers as well as other teams within Seattle IT and other parts of the city infrastructure. Excellent communications skills are necessary.

Some of those systems include:

  • Computer Aided Dispatching
  • Day to day maintenance and configuration
  • Records Managements Systems (Fire Incident Reporting)
  • Vehicle Avoidance systems
  • Integrated monitoring systems
  • Workstation planning and configuration
  • Emergency operations systems
  • Third-party systems integrations
  • Coordinating and collaborating with other departments within the city

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education, experience, and/or training will be considered for the required qualifications.

  • Demonstrated experience administrating systems that are highly visible and critical to operations.
  • Experience developing SQL views, datasets, and integrations between multiple systems.
  • Experience developing scripts using MS PowerShell.
  • Experience planning and implementing solutions.
  • Basic project management skills, and ability to use Azure Dev Ops\MS Planner or similar tools to help team visualize project phases and work breakdown structure.
  • Strong documentation skills and technical writing ability.
  • The ability to participate in an ongoing on-call rotation providing 24/7 support to customers for specific critical systems.
  • Ability to pass and maintain CJIS certifications which includes an FBI background check.
  • High energy: able to deal with demanding pace and constantly evolving priorities; ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, use good judgment and discretion, and interact with diverse workforce within the City and customer base.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting public safety departments in the areas of dispatch, supporting systems.
  • Application development experience using current versions of Visual Studio.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with others that may not have a technology background.

Salary The full salary range for this classification is $54.81 - $82.28 per hour.

The salary range for this position has been identified as $70.00 - $73.00 per hour based on experience.

Telework Expectations

This position offers flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Hybrid telework schedules have a minimum requirement of three days onsite per week, which is subject to change at any time at the Mayor's discretion. Individual schedules are based on operational needs and agreement between the employee and their supervisor.
