THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Utility Commission (PUC) has an exciting opportunity as a Public Utility Enforcement Officer covering Cumberland & Franklin Counties in Pennsylvania, which offers home-based work for the beginning and end of shift, as well as weekends and holidays off. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role focuses on the safety of commercial motor vehicles and the protection of the motoring public across Pennsylvania. As an Enforcement Officer for the Public Utility Commission, you will perform the following duties:
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time, home headquartered employment.
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch period.
Additional travel may be required.
This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

WORK BEHAVIOR 1 - CONDUCTS INSPECTIONS
Conducts inspections of motor carrier driver records and vehicles including trucks, buses, taxicabs, limousines, Uber, Lyft, and other passenger type vehicles providing intrastate transportation of people and property for compensation, to ensure the carrier is properly licensed by the Commission, and is in compliance with all applicable regulations and motor carrier safety standards. Inspections include tires, brakes, lights, gauges and exhaust systems as well as documentation including operators license, vehicle registration, medical and insurance cards, passenger manifests, bills-of-lading and hours of service records.

Conducts investigations based on complaints received from the public which includes interviewing drivers, retrieving pertinent records, visiting shippers, consignees, complainant, carriers and other law enforcement officers to obtain all required documentation and preparing and submitting a comprehensive investigative report that can be used in the issuance of a Bureau Complaint.

Performs safety and compliance audits of motor carrier company records which includes driver files, applications for employment, licenses, medical DOT card, Drug and Alcohol testing records, pre-employment testing, time records, maintenance records and company policies. Completes safety fitness reviews of motor carrier applicants. Scores the audit and reviews results with carrier representation. Makes recommendations to comply with Federal laws and standards.
