WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Project management/resident engineer responsibilities for the Division’s more complex assignments, including vertical construction, city building upgrades, park improvements, street paving, and other public right-of-way engineering projects
Assisting the Senior Civil Engineer in plan review and development for internal Facilities projects
Coordination with the Traffic Engineering (TE) division to streamline the development and approval of traffic control plans for projects within the public right-of-way
Development and management of the future Oxnard ADA Transition Plan for the public right-of-way
Working with internal and external stakeholders to develop capital project scopes of work; production of engineering and architectural design plans and specifications for assigned projects, using both in-house and contracted resources
Participate in Neighborhood Council and other public stakeholder meetings, sometimes outside of normal work hours and occasionally on weekends
Perform other civil engineering-related duties as assigned

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Civil Engineer is the class responsible for assuring that private and public development meets with applicable Federal, State, and City requirements and codes. This position is distinguished from the next higher level class of Senior Civil Engineer by the latter position's full management and supervisory responsibilities.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED / SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Direction is provided by the Senior Civil Engineer or Supervising Civil Engineer. Incumbents in this class exercise technical and functional supervision over lower-level engineering technical and support staff.
