Public Works Crew Chief

Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department seeks a Public Works Crew Chief to assist in providing safe, clean, and welcoming parks for Palm Beach County residents and visitors.

Performs duties in accordance with Park Operations Division's quality standards. Directs and reviews the work of crews engaged in the maintenance of park landscapes and facilities. Work tasks include but are not limited to: Performing daily park maintenance, interacting with park visitors, performing facility safety checks, scheduling routine and preventive maintenance, developing staff schedules, and assigning tasks. Trains maintenance staff and reviews work performance on the daily maintenance of parks and on the operation of the equipment. Maintains equipment and records and prepares a wide array of written documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:

• Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of experience in landscaping maintenance and/or landscaping construction, including three (3) months of experience directing the work of others.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include:

• College degree,
• Two (2) years of experience directing the work of crews performing landscape maintenance, and
• Valid FL Class A or B CDL (must specify on application).
