POSITION DESCRIPTION

BASIC FUNCTION:

Intern Generalists will be assigned to a specific department with flexible hours not to exceed 28 hours per week or 980 hours per fiscal year.

The internship classification is used for temporary appointment and to provide job training. Duties will vary widely based on the training assignment and department program needs. The intern is a single class position, fully competent to perform a variety of support and project-oriented tasks and duties.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Perform a wide variety of tasks depending on the assignment. These functions may encompass providing technical support, administrative responsibilities, or field work.

Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.

Observe and maintain a safe working environment in compliance with established safety programs and procedures.

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Verbal and written communication skills.

Standards and methods of working safely.

ABILITY TO:

Follow both written and verbal instruction.

Work independently.

Abide by safety procedures.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

California driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
