You will work closely with the Press's publicity and promotions team to ensure that the Press and our publications are properly and effectively promoted to core audiences, ranging from academic libraries to scholars, researchers, and the general public.

Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) tracking review copies of books and other materials sent out for media and awards consideration; maintaining up-to-date information on review outlets and book prizes in the Press's internal databases; preparing manuscripts for advance endorsements; creating drafts of marketing materials such as fliers and social media graphics in Adobe InDesign; assisting with the creation and scheduling of social media content and advertising; and scanning published reviews for appropriate blurbs to appear on the web and other marketing materials.

Strong organizational and written skills required; digital content creation skills and experience with Adobe software is a plus. Candidates should also have a strong interest in publishing as a career, but do not need to be English majors.

Penn State University Press interns have gone on to work with such publishers as Elsevier, McGraw-Hill, Houghton-Mifflin, Avon Books, MIT Press, NYU Press, Oxford University Press, Princeton University Press, O'Reilly & Associates, University of California Press, Thames & Hudson, and other institutions such as libraries, museums, and communications companies. If you are motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about books, then we look forward to meeting you.
