Summary:
- The Pulmonary Equipment section cleans and processes equipment in the Department of Pulmonary Medicine. Responsible for the inventory control and distribution of supplies and medical gases. Performs preventive maintenance and quality assurance procedures on respiratory therapy equipment. Maintains inventory management system and works collaboratively with Materials Management
Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine leadership, supports all aspects of Respiratory Care Services regarding equipment, supplies, and non-labor resources.
- Cleans and processes used and contaminated respiratory therapy equipment as per policy. Inventories and distributes medical gasses as required. Ensures compressed gas is safely supplied to all patient care areas as required.
- Maintains appropriate levels of supplies and equipment in the department and critical care storage areas. Also, maintains and replaces pulmonary supplies on the Medical/Surgical floors.
- Performs preventive maintenance and quality assurance activities on equipment.
- Performs daily checking of compressed gas as requested by the Department of Pulmonary Medicine. Responsible for the ordering and changing of gas cylinders for the banks as well as other cylinder gases.
- Confers with respiratory care leadership regarding technical assistance and guidance on performance of QAPI activities.
- Provides orientation of the equipment section to new employees, respiratory therapy students, and student nurses as necessary.
- Provides supply and equipment support to Pulmonary Diagnostics as requested.
Credentials:
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
- Education Specialization:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Equivalent Experience:
•1+ years One to two (1 - 2) years experience in health care setting.
