Primary Duties and Responsibilities

This position oversees Pulmonary Function Laboratory (PFT), ambulatory respiratory testing, and outpatient respiratory operations across the UCLA Health System. Responsibilities include management of daily lab operations, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, staff onboarding and competency training, equipment oversight, workflow coordination, and support of ambulatory pulmonary diagnostic services across multiple clinical sites.

The position collaborates closely with physicians, nursing leadership, infection prevention, clinical engineering, and operational teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. Additional responsibilities include maintaining compliance with Joint Commission, CLIA, CAP, DPH, and other regulatory standards; supporting program development and operational expansion initiatives; and serving as a clinical and operational resource for respiratory therapy ambulatory services throughout the health system.

Salary $119,700 - $272,700 Annually.

Job Qualifications

• Current California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) credential required
• Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) credential preferred
• Bachelorâ€s degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field required
• Masterâ€s degree preferred in Healthcare Administration, Respiratory Therapy, Business Administration, Computer Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Pulmonary Function Testing, ambulatory respiratory services, or respiratory therapy operations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of pulmonary diagnostics, blood gas analysis, respiratory equipment, and outpatient respiratory workflows
• Knowledge of Joint Commission, CLIA, CAP, DPH, and other regulatory/accreditation requirements
• Experience with staff onboarding, competency validation, education, and quality improvement initiatives
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across the health system
• Experience with electronic medical records and healthcare information systems preferred
• Minimum 8 years in a RT leadership role required.
