Job Description:
- Part-Time Days - 7 am to 3:30 pm - No weekends
- Cleans and disinfects spirometry circuits, portable spirometry care, patient transport equipment, and test areas daily.
- Performs and documents lab calibration verification studies.
- Prepares and assists with the preparation of quality control records and documents.
- Conducts calibration checks and calibrations every thirty days, after repairs, or when accuracy is in question.
- Recognizes and reports quality control deviations and initiates corrective actions immediately.
- Runs and records monthly proficiency testing on pulmonary function testing equipment.
- Documents maintenance and repair work in appropriate logs for pulmonary function equipment.
- Performs and records quality control measurements on pulmonary function testing equipment monthly, after repairs, or when accuracy is in question.
- Utilizes and maintains spirometers and diffusion study equipment, replacing expendable supplies as needed.
- Ensures uninterrupted availability of supplies to the pulmonary laboratory through inventory, record keeping, and restocking.
- Schedules and performs various pulmonary diagnostic tests, discussing and clarifying results with ordering providers.
- Transports or arranges transport for patients to the lab efficiently and in a timely fashion.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to perform quality control measurements and recording [Required]
- Ability to perform: linearity, calibration verification, spirometric, full/advanced pulmonary function, pre/post bronchodilator and nocturnal oximetry studies [Required]
- Ability to utilize, maintain and calibrate pulmonary function equipment [Required]
- Ability to utilize and adapt to state-of-the-art technology, computer systems and applications [Required]
- Effective oral and written communication skills [Required]
- Course of training or internship in pulmonary diagnostic testing [Required]
Education:
- Associate [Required]
- Bachelor's [Preferred]
Field of Study:
- in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science
Work Experience:
- Experience in a full-service pulmonary function laboratory [Preferred]
Additional Information:
- NBRC credential must be maintained as a condition of continued role eligibility.
- All States: require NBRC for new hires, and incumbents.
- Florida Exception: legacy incumbents may continue working and may transfer within Florida without a NBRC active credential, subject to an approved, time-limited transition period.
