Engineer: Pump Application and Aftermarket Support
Why This Role Matters
As an Applications Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the success and growth of Geiger’s rotating equipment business by providing technical expertise for both new equipment opportunities and supporting our customer’s existing equipment installations. Working closely with our sales, service, and operations teams, you’ll help deliver reliable, value-driven solutions that improve our customer’s processes, reduce downtime, and strengthen long-term relationships.
This role bridges engineering, customer service, application expertise, problem solving, and hands-on technical support to ensure our customers receive the best solutions throughout the entire equipment lifecycle.
What You’ll Do
Champion Geiger’s core values of Continuous Improvement, Customer Focus, and Teamwork.
Support the selection, sizing, and application of pumps and related rotating equipment for new projects and replacement opportunities.
Work closely with Outside Sales Engineers to develop technical solutions that meet customer requirements and support business growth.
Review specifications, drawings, and operating conditions to recommend reliable and cost-effective equipment solutions.
Collaborate with manufacturers and internal teams to develop proposals, quotations, technical submittals, and engineered solutions.
Participate in training opportunities with manufacturers and industry organizations to continuously expand technical knowledge.
Provide technical support for existing installations, including troubleshooting, performance evaluations, repair recommendations, and upgrade opportunities.
Assist our service team with diagnosing equipment issues and developing corrective action plans for pumps and rotating equipment.
Support startup, commissioning, field inspections, and performance verification activities when needed.
Who We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or Associate degree with relevant industry experience.
Willingness to travel to our customer sites along with repair technicians and outside sales engineers
Experience with pumps, rotating equipment, fluid handling systems, water/wastewater equipment, or industrial process equipment preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in troubleshooting and solving real-world equipment challenges.
Ability to interpret specifications, engineering drawings, pump curves, and technical documentation.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional support to customers and fellow employees.
Highly organized, self-directed, adaptable, and enthusiastic about learning new technologies.
Collaborative team player who enjoys working across departments to solve problems and achieve results.
Willingness to investigate equipment hands-on with our service technicians in our Baltimore shop.
