Job Description

Job Title: AY Jet Pumps Assembler
Department: Assembly / Warehouse
Compensation: $20-$22
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6 am - 3:30pm 

 Overtime may be required based on production demands.


Position Summary

The AY Jet Pumps Assembler is responsible for the accurate and efficient assembly of shallow well and deep well jet pump systems at Baker Manufacturing’s AY Pump Warehouse. This position supports aftermarket fulfillment and small batch production operations while ensuring high quality standards are maintained for AY McDonald water system products.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail oriented, dependable, and capable of working in a fast paced manufacturing environment. This role requires the ability to follow technical instructions, safely operate hand and pneumatic tools, and maintain consistent quality throughout the assembly process.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Assembly & Production

  • Assemble jet pump units, including motors, pump bodies, diffusers, impellers, ejectors, and related components. 
  • Use hand tools, pneumatic tools, torque wrenches, and assembly equipment safely and effectively. 
  • Follow assembly instructions, technical drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and production specifications accurately. 
  • Inspect components and completed assemblies to ensure quality and performance standards are met. 
  • Maintain production efficiency while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Support small batch manufacturing and aftermarket order fulfillment operations. 

Quality & Safety

  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. 
  • Identify quality concerns and notify supervisors or leads promptly. 
  • Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy and proper handling of parts and materials. 

Teamwork & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in team meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Support lean manufacturing practices and operational efficiency efforts. 
  • Work collaboratively with warehouse, assembly, and leadership teams to meet production goals. 
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist in other areas as needed. 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Mechanical assembly experience or technical training preferred. 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, assembly instructions, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). 
  • Proficiency with hand tools, torque wrenches, and pneumatic tools. 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precision assembly work. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. 
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic. 
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities. 
  • Active learner willing to participate in training and continuous improvement activities. 
  • Experience with electric motors, pump systems, plumbing related products, or AY McDonald Pumps is a plus. 

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Previous manufacturing or assembly experience preferred. 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the workday. 
  • Frequently required to use hands for assembly and tool operation. 
  • Ability to lift, move, and carry parts and materials as needed up to 50lbs. 
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift. 
  • Must be able to work safely in a warehouse and manufacturing environment.
