Pump Systems Service Mechanic (Field & Shop)
Can you tear down a multistage pump, pinpoint the failure mode, and bring it back to spec—then shift gears and do a clean, on‑time field repair? If so, Hydro Inc. wants to meet you.
We’re a Chicago‑headquartered, global pump re‑engineering company and the largest independent pump rebuilder in the world. Since 1969, our mission has been to elevate plant reliability by understanding root causes of pump failures and delivering unbiased engineering analysis, quality workmanship, and rapid field service.
What you’ll tackle

- Travel to customer sites for troubleshooting and repairs when needed.
- Run shop equipment and material handling gear: steam cleaner, sandblaster, bead blaster, cranes/hoists/come‑along, forklift, pullers/presses/rams, ovens/heaters, and impact tools.
- Execute maintenance welding to support repairs.
- Lead the team in the supervisor’s absence and keep projects moving.
- Collaborate closely with coworkers to maintain a safe, efficient, high‑quality operation.
Skills that set you up for success
- Fluent with grinders, heating/burning torches, drill press, radial drill, balance machine, and precision metrology.
- Experienced assembling rotors with hand‑fitting using die grinders.
- Able to interpret and follow OEM service specifications and written/verbal instructions.
- Clear, professional communicator—written and spoken.

Bonus points
- Journeyman or US military background.
- Two years of machining and tooling experience in a machine shop environment.
