Punch Press Operator
Pay: $23-24/HR DOE A Punch Press Operator sets up and operates punch press machinery to cut, punch, form, and shape metal parts according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and production specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate punch press machines and related equipment.
Load and position metal sheets, blanks, or components into the machine.
Select and install the appropriate dies, punches, and tooling.
Adjust machine settings such as stroke, pressure, speed, and alignment.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and production specifications.
Inspect finished parts using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Perform quality checks to ensure parts meet required dimensions and tolerances.
Identify and correct machine or production issues when possible.
Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance.
Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards.
Keep the work area clean and organized.
Meet production schedules and quality standards.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous experience operating a punch press, stamping press, or similar manufacturing equipment preferred.
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
Basic knowledge of measuring instruments and metal fabrication processes.
Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/material-handle as required.
Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills
Experience with CNC or programmable punch presses.
Knowledge of metal fabrication and sheet-metal processes.
Ability to perform basic machine adjustments and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S practices.
Strong quality-control and problem-solving skills.
