Purchasing Agent – Print & Packaging Industry

Location: Miamisburg, OH
Pay: Based on Experience

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment specializing in print, paperboard, corrugated, and packaging materials. This role is responsible for sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring production has the resources needed to meet customer demand.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and manage suppliers for paper, corrugated materials, and print-related services.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors.
• Monitor supplier performance for quality, cost, and on-time delivery.
• Review production requirements and purchase appropriate materials based on specifications.
• Work with production and quality teams to resolve material-related issues.
• Forecast material needs and maintain inventory levels to support manufacturing schedules.
• Track market trends and pricing changes to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage purchase orders and inventory.
• Help reduce waste and improve material utilization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• 3–5 years of purchasing or procurement experience within print manufacturing, commercial printing, packaging, or a related industry.
• Strong knowledge of paper grades, corrugated materials, packaging, and print production processes.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of FSC, SFI, or PEFC sustainability certifications is a plus.
