Purchasing Agent
 
Cambridgeport is currently seeking a Purchasing Agent to work with the Manufacturing Team to ensure our products are designed, built and delivered right every time.
 
CAMBRIDGEPORT is a well-established, industry leader in the manufacture and assembly of HVAC products located in Georgetown, MA. Our products include Data center units and computer room air handlers.  Custom design and field services are also available.  
 
The ideal candidate will be manages the procurement process by identifying suppliers, obtaining competitive pricing, negotiating contracts, and placing purchase orders. This role works closely with internal departments to ensure materials and supplies are available when needed while maintaining budget and inventory goals..  Works under immediate supervision.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Research, evaluate, and select vendors and suppliers.
  • Request and compare price quotations, proposals, and bids.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and contracts.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders for goods and services.
  • Monitor order status and ensure timely delivery.
  • Resolve issues related to delayed shipments, damaged goods, or supplier performance.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
  • Coordinate with inventory, warehouse, and accounting teams.
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and applicable regulations.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers.
  • Analyze purchasing trends and recommend cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support production scheduling / MRP alignment
  • Manage lead times and safety stock for critical/long-lead components
  • Ensure ERP/purchasing system data integrity
 
 
 
 
Typical Education and Relevant Experience:
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of purchasing, procurement, inventory, or supply chain experience preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience using ERP or purchasing software is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • $60,000-$70,000; Commensurate with experience
