Mercury Electronics is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to support daily procurement and supplier coordination activities within a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment. This role ensures timely and accurate purchase order processing, supplier communication, and procurement data management while supporting internal teams and departmental initiatives. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities with accuracy and professionalism. Hours worked are typically 7am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. Key ResponsibilitiesGenerate and process purchase orders per MRP and planning requirementsMonitor open orders for supplier acknowledgment, delivery status, and on-time performanceCommunicate with suppliers on order status, pricing, lead times, and delivery commitmentsSource and obtain competitive quotes for new and existing componentsMaintain supplier contacts, records, and approved supplier listsEnter and maintain pricing and quotation data in FilePro ERPPrepare procurement documentation, spreadsheets, and reportsMaintain purchasing files and records (electronic and physical)Support cost-savings initiatives, sourcing activities, and departmental projectsProvide purchasing status and updates to Planning, Engineering, Production, and SalesQualificationsStrong organization and attention to detailAbility to prioritize and meet multiple deadlinesEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and within a teamBasic understanding of manufacturing or supply chain conceptsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)Ability to learn ERP systems and processes quicklyPreferred:ERP or database experience (FilePro or similar)Familiarity with document management tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat)Ability to read bills of materials, schematics, or drawings About Mercury Electronics:Mercury Electronics is a contract manufacturer with more than 230 employees and over 80 years of experience producing high quality cable assemblies, wiring harnesses, control panels, electromechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies.
