Role Summary:

As a Purchasing Assistant, you will be responsible for translating demands into purchase orders to ensure timely availability of materials while optimizing inventory levels. This role serves as a liaison between production, logistics, and planning teams to align material flow with business needs. You will also play a role in supplier coordination, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement of procurement planning processes.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Convert demand into purchase orders to ensure material availability in alignment with production schedules and inventory targets.
• Monitor supplier performance and capacity to proactively identify and mitigate risks to material supply.
• Collaborate with supply chain teams to define procurement strategies, including economic order quantities, lead times, and reorder points.
• Act as a point of contact between planning, production, logistics, and suppliers to prioritize material flow based on changing requirements.
• Support new product introductions, phase-ins/phase-outs, and engineering changes by ensuring timely procurement of required components.
• Analyze inventory levels and usage trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and improved procurement efficiency.
• Partner with schedulers and production teams to resolve material shortages and implement corrective actions.
• Participate in cross-functional projects to improve procurement planning processes, tools, and KPIs.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a similar field and 1 – 3  years of experience in procurement, materials planning, or supply chain in a manufacturing or production environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong understanding of procurement planning principles, supplier management, and inventory control.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with MRP tools is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation Range: $25.85 - $38.77 annually (Varies depending on relevancy of experience, technical certifications and other job-related criteria).
