Major Food Group is hiring a Purchasing & Commodities Manager to join our corporate team!

The Purchasing & Commodities Manager is a key member of Major Food Group's

Purchasing Team. Reporting to the Director of Purchasing, this role leads commodity pricing

strategy, RFP development and execution, and vendor contract negotiations to drive cost

optimization across all food and beverage categories. The role collaborates with chef and

management teams to align procurement activities with culinary standards while delivering

measurable financial results through strategic sourcing, market analysis, and competitive

bidding processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

n

n

  • Lead end-to-end RFP processes for all food and controllable categories, including:n

n

  • Bid solicitation, scoring, and award decisions n
  • Blind tastings with culinary to objectively evaluate product quality and data driven vendor selection n
  • Contract terms, pricing structures, and volume commitments n
  • Multi-unit pricing alignment and consolidated purchasing opportunities n
  • Rebate structures, GPO agreements, and long-term supply contracts n
  • Track and analyze commodity market pricing trends (protein, produce, dairy, dry goods) to inform purchasing decisions and flag cost exposure n

  • Manage sourcing initiatives with a focus on cost savings and avoidance; identify and quantify savings opportunities through competitive bidding, substitutions, and contract renegotiations n
  • Manage supplier relationships across all categories, including regular performance reviews, issue resolution, and ongoing development of the approved vendor network n
  • Generate periodic commodity market updates and weekly operational food cost reports including but not limited to: tariffs, weather events, and currency fluctuations n
  • Train culinary teams on inventory management system and receiving practices as it pertains to day-to-day operations n
  • Maintain a vendor masterlist for all suppliers n
  • Ensures compliance with all brand established systems and procedures n
  • Spend time within businesses for onsite training and support n
  • Manage inventory systems which allow for on-demand insights to support operational decision-making that will increase profitability n

nREQUIREMENTS:

n

  • 3+ years of experience in food & beverage procurement, commodity purchasing, or a related strategic sourcing role. n
  • Demonstrated understanding of commodity markets n
  • Demonstrated expertise in commodity pricing analysis, RFP/RFQ development and management, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management n
  • Integrity and ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously n
  • Ability to strategically think, logistically plan and proactively problem solve n
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating cross-functionally n
  • Concise written and verbal communication skills n
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Google Suite n
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment. n
  • Detail oriented and organized. n

Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000 annual salary
