Position Title: Purchasing Director

Position Overview:

In this role, the Director of Procurement is responsible for developing and leading NutraSelf's procurement strategy, supplier partner network, purchasing execution, and inventory optimization practices. This role ensures NutraSelf has the right materials available at the optimal time to support production, customer service, cost targets, cash flow, and business growth. The Director of Procurement will work closely with Forecast/Demand Planning, Production, Quality, R&D, Finance, and supplier partners to improve material availability, reduce waste and obsolescence, strengthen vendor performance, and drive Lean/Continuous Improvement across procurement processes.

Objectives & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a strong network of supplier partners, including ingredients, packaging, and other strategic vendors needed to support business continuity and growth.
  • Build collaborative supplier relationships focused on service, quality, reliability, innovation, lead-time reduction, cost improvement, risk mitigation, and proactive issue resolution.
  • Lead procurement planning and execution to ensure materials are available when needed for production while optimizing inventory levels, cash flow, inventory turns, storage needs, and obsolescence risk.
  • Manage MRP, supplier lead times, demand volatility, minimum order quantities, shelf life, and production schedules to guide purchasing decisions.
  • Work closely with the Forecast/Demand Planning team to review demand plans, MRP outputs, inventory positions, supply constraints, and material requirements so production has the materials needed to execute planned jobs.
  • Partner closely with Production, Planning, Warehouse Operations, Quality, R&D, and Finance to align procurement priorities, report on issues, resolve material constraints, support new product introductions, minimize production disruption, and continuously improve department and company performance.
  • Manage and develop procurement team members to promote high engagement, accountability, performance, professional growth, and cross-functional service excellence.
  • Develop, implement, and manage procurement KPIs, including supplier service levels, on-time delivery, purchase price variance, cost savings, inventory turns, lead times, stock levels, material availability, obsolescence, and execution to budget.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, supply commitments, service expectations, and other commercial agreements that improve value, reduce risk, and support Growve's operating and financial goals.
  • Identify and qualify alternate suppliers and supply options to reduce risk, create redundancy for critical materials, improve responsiveness, and support business continuity.
  • Drive Lean and Continuous Improvement practices across procurement processes, including standard work, visual management, waste reduction, root cause analysis, supplier performance routines, and process simplification.
  • Use data, ERP/MRP outputs, supplier performance information, and cross-functional feedback to identify issues, assess root causes, resolve problems, and improve purchasing discipline and execution.
  • Understand, help implement, and improve ERP, MRP, and related procurement tools to strengthen data integrity, purchasing controls, inventory visibility, and material planning effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Logistics and Warehouse Operations to coordinate inbound priorities, improve material flow, support receiving readiness, and reduce excess freight, expedites, and handling inefficiencies.
  • Support other Operations functions, supplier projects, cost savings initiatives, and strategic sourcing needs as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, operations, materials management, or a related function required.
  • Experience building and managing supplier partnerships, negotiating supplier agreements, and improving supplier performance required.
  • Strong understanding of inventory optimization, MRP, demand planning, purchase planning, lead times, inventory turns, material availability, and obsolescence management required.
  • Experience working closely with Forecast/Demand Planning, Production, Quality, R&D, Warehouse Operations, Finance, suppliers, co-manufacturers, and co-packers.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and how purchasing, planning, inventory, production, warehouse, and logistics data integrate.
  • Demonstrated ability to use KPIs, analysis, and structured operating routines to improve procurement performance, accountability, and supplier execution.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, time-management, negotiation, communication, and follow-through skills.
  • Position requires self-direction, strong attention to detail, flexibility, high integrity and judgment, and the ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, required.
  • Experience in dietary supplements, cosmetics, food, personal care, or consumer products preferred.
