The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a machine shop environment and understand the relationship between engineering drawings, material purchasing, machining processes, and project estimating. This person should be comfortable communicating with both customers and vendors and be able to independently review a drawing, identify the materials and processes required, obtain vendor pricing, and assist in developing an accurate project quote.
Strong ability to communicate professionally with customers and vendors by phone and email. The candidate should be comfortable requesting pricing, discussing material availability, following up on orders, and resolving purchasing-related questions.
Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, drawings, and specifications and determine the appropriate type, grade, size, and quantity of material required for a job.
Previous experience working in a machine shop or manufacturing environment is strongly preferred, particularly experience with CNC machining, welding and waterjet cutting.
Familiarity with common metals and manufacturing materials, as well as an understanding of machining and fabrication processes, is highly desirable.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to review drawings, specifications, vendor quotes, and customer requirements accurately.
