Kingz Kimonos (kingz.com) is a fast-growing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu uniforms and apparel brand. Our mission is to provide customers with high-quality BJJ gear, apparel, and accessories at competitive prices, paired with superior customer service.

We are seeking a Purchasing Manager & Logistics Coordinator to lead demand forecasting, purchasing strategy, and freight decision-making across our global operations. This role is responsible for purchasing strategy and execution across multiple sales channels, eCommerce platforms, and international markets.

You will work closely with the CFO, Controller, CEO, and Supply Chain team to align financial objectives with operational execution. This position owns vendor relationships, pricing and margin strategy, product mix and assortment planning, purchasing processes, and inventory flow—ensuring the right products are available at the right time, at the right cost, while supporting regional customer preferences.

Schedule: 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–5:00 pm)
Compensation: $66,500–$80,000 per year (DOE; in-person role based in San Diego)

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing Strategy & Assortment

  • Build and execute purchasing strategies across categories to support revenue growth, margin targets, and inventory turns

  • Lead assortment planning and product mix decisions by region, store type, and customer segment

  • Partner with Merchandising and Marketing to align product strategy with promotions, pricing, and brand positioning

  • Establish and maintain a disciplined SKU lifecycle process (new item setup, rationalization, end-of-life, substitutions)

Vendor Management & Negotiation

  • Own key vendor relationships and drive performance across cost, service levels, lead times, fill rates, quality, and compliance

  • Negotiate pricing, volume discounts, payment terms, and vendor agreements

Pricing, Margin & Financial Performance

  • Own category-level gross margin targets and maintain profitability through disciplined cost management and pricing strategy

  • Collaborate with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and purchase commitments

Inventory Planning, Allocation & Replenishment

  • Ensure inventory is purchased, allocated, and replenished to meet demand while minimizing stockouts, overstocks, and markdown exposure

  • Partner with Operations and Planning to implement forecasting and replenishment rules (min/max, safety stock, order cadence)

  • Coordinate purchase timing around promotions, launches, seasonal shifts, and supply disruptions

Logistics, Terms & Execution

  • Manage ordering schedules, lead times, shipping constraints, and delivery performance across multiple regions

  • Coordinate with warehouses, 3PL partners, and retail teams to support receiving and storage requirements

  • Ensure vendor compliance with labeling, packaging, QA standards, and delivery appointments

  • Create scalable SOPs for purchase orders, approvals, vendor setup, item master, and returns/claims

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Operations, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to align purchasing with business goals

  • Lead and develop the purchasing and logistics team, including training, performance management, and hiring

  • Present purchasing performance, key decisions, and category insights to executive leadership

Required Skills & Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, or supply chain management, with 3+ years in a leadership role

  • Proven track record negotiating vendor contracts and improving pricing, terms, and service levels

  • Strong understanding of pricing strategy, margin management, assortment planning, and multi-channel merchandising

  • Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (cost modeling, margin analysis, demand forecasting)

  • Experience with ERP, order management, WMS, or inventory planning systems (e.g., Linnworks, Inventory Planner, or similar)

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams

  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and resolve supply chain challenges efficiently

Preferred

  • Experience in apparel, sporting goods, or eCommerce brands across diverse markets

  • Category management experience in multi-channel or specialty retail

  • Familiarity shopify, forecasting tools, and inventory planning systems

  • Experience building purchasing SOPs and operational controls

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field (MBA a plus)
