    Description

    Johnson Service Group is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager for one of our Contract Manufacturing clients in the Bay Area. This role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, overseeing a team of buyers, and ensuring the timely procurement of materials to support production while meeting cost, quality, and delivery objectives.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team while driving performance and continuous improvement.
    • Develop and execute procurement strategies that optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance.
    • Source and manage suppliers for electronic components, PCBs, mechanical assemblies, and production materials.
    • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supplier agreements to achieve cost savings.
    • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Planning, Warehouse, and Quality teams to ensure material availability and production continuity.
    • Monitor inventory levels, lead times, and demand forecasts to minimize shortages and excess inventory.
    • Evaluate supplier performance, conduct supplier audits, and resolve quality or delivery issues.
    • Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for cost reduction and supply chain improvements.
    • Ensure compliance with customer requirements and industry standards, including RoHS and REACH.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years of experience as a Senior Buyer or Purchasing Manager in an EMS/Contract Manufacturing environment.
    • Experience supporting NPI, PCBA, and mechanical assembly manufacturing.
    • Strong background in purchasing, warehouse, and logistics operations.
    • Proven leadership experience managing purchasing teams.
    • Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel.
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while managing multiple priorities.
    • Willingness to support occasional after-hours meetings with global teams as needed.
    Salary $125k plus benefits
