Lead Marine is hiring a Purchasing Manager to direct supply chain operations, manage purchasing personnel, negotiate vendor agreements, and maintain quality control from procurement through receiving.
Position Overview

- Role Summary: Manage the procurement of high-quality products and services balancing cost, availability, reliability, and technical support. Direct the purchasing team, oversee vendor relationships, ensure compliance with contract standards, and execute stage-one receiving inspections.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement & Negotiation: Obtain estimates, negotiate optimal pricing and terms with suppliers and subcontractors, and enter purchase orders into the accounting system.
- Team & Logistics Management: Direct purchasing agents and buyers. Manage shipping requirements (selecting cost-effective and fast carriers), schedule pick-ups, and oversee packaging/crating standards.
- Receiving & Quality Inspection: Conduct stage-one receiving inspections, verify product quantities/specifications, inspect compliance certificates/chemical reports, and maintain a digital library of material certifications.
- Vendor & Material Control: Store material in designated Customer Furnished Material (CFM) staging areas, address defective goods with vendors, conduct annual supplier evaluations, and enter new vendors into the system.
- Accounting & Audits: Match receiving documentation with POs for payment, resolve invoice discrepancies, conduct internal audits, and assist the Contracts Department with material quotes.
- Reporting & Communication: Maintain tracking logs (online requisition/PO, rental, gas cylinder logs), provide CFM reports per 009-01 standards, and collaborate regularly with department heads.
Position Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience, including supervisory experience managing purchasing agents or buyers.
- Technical & Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience generating POs in QuickBooks (or similar accounting software). Fluent in Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet, and PDF tools.
- Core Skills: Strong analytical, decision-making, negotiation, and basic math skills. Exceptional organizational ability and meticulous attention to detail.
- Communication: Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Screening & Work Schedule: Ability to pass a drug screen and security background check. Willingness to work extended hours when necessary to meet production requirements.
