A fast-growing HVAC wholesale distributor is seeking a Purchasing Manager to join the team. This is a high-impact leadership role with direct visibility across leadership, sales, and operations. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading all procurement and inventory management functions across assigned locations, ensuring optimal product availability while maximizing service levels, inventory investment, and gross margin performance.

Salary + Additional Benefits:

Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with our client's growth and service goals.
  • Manage relationships with key HVAC manufacturers and vendors, including pricing, rebates, and terms negotiations.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels across branches, balancing fill rates with inventory turns and working capital.
  • Forecast seasonal demand (heating/cooling cycles) and adjust purchasing accordingly.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Branch Managers, and Operations to align inventory with customer demand.
  • Analyze purchasing trends, product performance, and margin opportunities.
  • Monitor and manage backorders, vendor lead times, and supply disruptions.
  • Identify and onboard new vendors and product lines to support market competitiveness.
  • Ensure accuracy and efficiency in purchase order creation, tracking, and receiving.
  • Utilize ERP systems to maintain clean data and drive decision-making.
  • Lead and develop purchasing team members.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (a plus)
  • 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or inventory management experience
  • HVAC, plumbing, or wholesale distribution experience strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate pricing
  • Strong understanding of inventory metrics (turns, fill rate, GMROI)
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Eclipse
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with data
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership experience
