TruBlu HR Solutions is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager for a direct-hire opportunity with a manufacturing company in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
This position is responsible for purchasing raw materials, components, and shop supplies needed to support daily production. The Purchasing Manager will work closely with vendors, suppliers, engineering, production, and internal departments to ensure materials are sourced at competitive pricing and delivered on time.
Candidates should have strong experience with vendor negotiation, purchase orders, raw material sourcing, blueprint/specification review, SAP, and Microsoft Office.
Responsibilities
- Manage purchasing activities for raw materials, production components, and shop supplies.
- Source and procure materials based on customer specifications, engineering drawings, and production requirements.
- Request and review vendor quotes for pricing, lead times, availability, and material specifications.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, delivery schedules, and purchasing agreements with vendors and suppliers.
- Create, issue, and release purchase orders accurately and on time.
- Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and address pricing, quality, or delivery concerns as needed.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and operations teams to determine material requirements.
- Review inventory levels and purchasing needs to help prevent material shortages and production delays.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor information, pricing, and order documentation.
- Assist with identifying and qualifying new vendors and alternate suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, pricing, responsiveness, and delivery.
- Resolve discrepancies involving pricing, quantities, damaged materials, or incorrect shipments.
- Use SAP to enter, track, and manage purchasing and procurement activity.
- Prepare purchasing reports, cost comparisons, and related documentation.
- Support cost-control initiatives and identify opportunities for purchasing savings.
- Maintain organized and accurate records while following company purchasing procedures.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, machining, industrial, electronics, or production environment.
- Experience purchasing raw materials and production components.
- Strong vendor negotiation and supplier-management experience.
- Ability to obtain and compare quotes from multiple suppliers.
- Experience creating and managing purchase orders.
- Ability to review blueprints, engineering specifications, or customer requirements for purchasing purposes.
- Strong understanding of lead times, material availability, and production purchasing needs.
- Experience with SAP required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple purchasing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
