Overview:
As a Supply Chain Specialist at our Tier One Automotive Manufacturing Facility, you will be instrumental in managing and optimizing various aspects of the supply chain to ensure efficient and seamless operations. You will work closely with suppliers, production teams, logistics providers, and other internal stakeholders to coordinate the flow of materials, optimize inventory levels, and mitigate supply chain risks. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Manage supplier relationships, including communication, performance monitoring, and issue resolution to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials and components.
Coordinate with procurement and purchasing teams to develop and implement sourcing strategies that optimize cost, quality, and lead times.
Monitor inventory levels and analyze demand forecasts to optimize inventory management practices and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.
Collaborate with production planning and scheduling teams to ensure alignment of supply chain activities with production schedules and customer demand.
Identify and assess supply chain risks, such as supplier disruptions, transportation delays, and inventory shortages, and develop mitigation plans.
Utilize supply chain management software systems to track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), such as on-time delivery, inventory turns, and supplier performance.
Conduct regular performance reviews and audits of suppliers to evaluate compliance with contractual agreements, quality standards, and delivery requirements.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve supply chain processes, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency through process optimization and automation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including logistics, quality assurance, and engineering, to address supply chain issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to supply chain management and make recommendations for implementation as appropriate.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field preferred.
Proven experience in supply chain management, procurement, or logistics, preferably in the automotive manufacturing industry.
Proficiency in using supply chain management software systems, such as JD Edwards SAP, Oracle, or MRP/ERP systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and make data-driven decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is desirable.
Familiarity with automotive industry standards and regulations related to supply chain management, such as IATF, ISO/TS 16949.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and address urgent supply chain issues as they arise.
Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends to support supply chain activities or address urgent supply chain issues.
