Purchasing Specialist
Location: Brooklyn, NY (5 days onsite)
Salary: $75,000 - $90,000
Overview
Our client, a growing manufacturing organization based in Brooklyn, is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to support day-to-day procurement operations and ensure the timely, cost-effective flow of raw materials and supplies. This role works closely with the Director of Supply Chain and vendors, playing a key part in purchase order execution, vendor coordination, and inventory management to support production demands.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full purchase order lifecycle, including placing orders, tracking shipments, and resolving discrepancies
Monitor inventory levels and support forecasting to ensure adequate supply of raw materials
Review open purchase orders and confirm delivery timelines, escalating any delays that could impact production
Assist in sourcing materials and obtaining competitive pricing from approved vendors
Communicate regularly with vendors regarding order status, delivery schedules, and pricing
Support vendor negotiations by gathering quotes and benchmarking costs
Maintain accurate vendor records and documentation
Partner with internal teams to address supply issues or quality concerns
Track and maintain inventory levels for both system and non-system items (e.g., packaging materials, supplies)
Assist with physical inventory counts and reconciliation processes
Support documentation and reporting related to purchasing and inventory activity
Ensure all purchasing documentation is accurate and aligned with company and compliance standards
Work closely with Production, Operations, and Finance to ensure alignment on material needs and timelines
Provide timely updates on inventory status and material availability
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred
2-5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Navision, Business Central, or similar) is a plus
Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and interact with vendors
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, onsite environment
Pay Details: $75,000.00 to $90,000.00 per year
