    The City of Coppell is seeking hardworking, service-minded individuals to join our Utility Line Services Team as a Maintenance Worker I, II, or Senior Maintenance Worker.

    Whether youre beginning your career in utility maintenance or bringing years of experience to the field, this opportunity offers the chance to perform meaningful work that directly impacts our community every day. From responding to water and sewer concerns to maintaining critical infrastructure, our team plays a crucial role in ensuring that Coppell operates safely and reliably.

    As part of Utility Line Services, youll work alongside a dedicated team, solving problems in the field, and serving as a first responder for residents and businesses when water and wastewater issues arise. Your duties may include repairing and maintaining water mains, sewer lines, valves, and other essential utilities, ensuring that our community has uninterrupted access to essential services.

    Schedule Commitment

    Regular attendance is an essential job function, and employment duties are routinely performed in 10-hour shifts Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday, with additional hours as needed on call. May occasionally be required to work after hours without notice when needed.

    Pay Plan

    This opportunity is non-exempt and on a Pay Grade of the following. The full Pay Grade Range is shown for growth and development opportunities within the determination is supported by budget availability and qualifications of the candidate to maintain internal equity.

    • Maintenance Worker I: Pay Grade 4

    • Min: $18.26

    • Mid: $22.36

    • Max: $26.46

    • Maintenance Worker II: Pay Grade 7

    • Min: $21.12

    • Mid: $25.87

    • Max: $30.62

    • Senior Maintenance Worker: Pay Grade 8

    • Min: $22.17

    • Mid: $27.15

    • Max: $32.15

    Required

    • Maintenance Worker I

    • High School Diploma/GED

    • No experience required; 6-12 months' experience preferred.

    • Valid State of Texas Driver's License with a good driving Record

    • Ability to obtain a Class "D" Water Operator or Wastewater Collections "I" License from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality within 6 months of employment.

    • Maintenance Worker II

    • High School Diploma/GED

    • 2+ Years experience in utility maintenance or a related field.

    • A valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's license with Combinations and Tanker endorsements or ability to obtain within 12 months is required.

    • May be required to upgrade to a Class "A" CDL and is preferred.

    • Class C Water Distribution or a Wastewater Collection II License issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality

    • Senior Maintenance Worker

    • High School Diploma/GED

    • 5+ Years experience in utility maintenance or a related field.

    • Ability to lead a team.

    • Must possess a Class C Water Distribution by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

    • Class I Wastewater Collection License from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will be required within six months post-hire for continued employment.

    • Valid State of Texas Class "B" CDL is required and may be required to upgrade to a Class "A" CDL with combination and tanker endorsements within 1-year post-hire. Class "A" CDL is preferred.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

    • Knowledge of mechanics and basic hand tools is required.
    • Ability to work closely with others as part of a team responsible for providing public service to the city and its citizens.
    • Ability to perform tedious and exacting work as well as multiple tasks simultaneously in dangerous, noisy, and distracting environments under time pressures. Tasks frequently subject this employee to safety risks related to operating in or around traffic zones and occasional emergency situations.
    • Ability to perform many physically demanding tasks, which involve a high degree of concern for personal safety and the safety of coworkers, citizens, and other individuals.
    • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with coworkers and members of the general public using the English language verbally on a daily basis is essential.
    • Ability to take and follow directions.
