    Description

    STAND 8 provides end to end IT solutions to enterprise partners across the United States and with offices in Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, and more including internationally in Mexico and India.

    We are seeking a Python Developer - Network Automation to build and maintain software that improves IP service configuration and network automation workflows. This role combines Python development, Linux, REST APIs, scripting, and networking to automate Internet and Ethernet service delivery processes. The developer will create reliable integrations, manipulate IPv4 and IPv6 addressing data, troubleshoot across software and network systems, and reduce manual configuration work. This remote contract opportunity primarily supports U.S.-based talent, while qualified nearshore candidates in Mexico may also be considered.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Develop and maintain Python-based automation and network-focused software solutions.
    • Build clean, maintainable, and reusable code.
    • Automate repetitive service configuration and network-related processes.
    • Troubleshoot automation and software issues across multiple systems.
    • Work with existing tools and applications while identifying opportunities to improve automation.
    • Build, integrate, and consume REST APIs.
    • Develop software that communicates with other systems and network platforms through APIs.
    • Troubleshoot API integrations and system-to-system interactions.
    • Support automation workflows that depend on API-driven processes.
    • Develop and troubleshoot within Linux environments.
    • Use Bash for scripting and automation.
    • Work with TCL where required within the network automation environment.
    • Diagnose problems across applications, operating systems, APIs, and network systems.
    • Develop software that interacts with network infrastructure.
    • Work with Internet and Ethernet service configuration processes.
    • Manipulate IPv4 and IPv6 addresses programmatically.
    • Work with IP prefixes, subnets, and related network data within Python applications.
    • Apply networking concepts to software and automation solutions.
    • Help improve the efficiency and consistency of network configuration activities.
    Qualifications

    Required:

    Technical Requirements

    Python
    • Strong proficiency in Python.
    • Demonstrated experience developing production-quality Python applications or automation.
    • Ability to write clean, maintainable code.
    Linux
    • Strong Linux experience.
    • Comfortable developing, scripting, troubleshooting, and working from the Linux command line.
    REST APIs
    • Experience building REST APIs.
    • Experience integrating REST APIs.
    • Experience consuming REST APIs.
    • Comfortable troubleshooting API interactions and integrations.
    Networking
    • Experience working with networking concepts in software or automation.
    • Ability to manipulate IPv4 and IPv6 addresses in code.
    • Understanding of IP prefixes and subnets.
    • Ability to work with network-related data programmatically.
    Scripting
    • Working knowledge of Bash.
    • Working knowledge of TCL.
    Troubleshooting
    • Comfortable troubleshooting across applications, systems, APIs, and network environments.
    • Able to investigate problems independently and develop practical technical solutions.
    Preferred (Optional):

    The following experience is highly desirable:
    • Network automation experience.
    • Network engineering background.
    • Experience automating router or network-device configuration.
    • Experience working with IP service provisioning.
    • Experience with Internet or Ethernet service delivery.
    • Experience developing software for telecommunications or networking environments.
    • Experience working with network APIs.
    • DevOps or infrastructure automation experience.
    • Experience with additional scripting languages or automation frameworks.
    • Experience working in a telecom, ISP, networking, or carrier environment.
