About the Opportunity

District Partners is supporting a leading federal technology organization seeking a QA Automation Engineer to help ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of mission-critical applications supporting U.S. government initiatives.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on automation, performance testing, and software quality. The ideal candidate has strong Python programming skills, experience with LoadRunner, and enjoys developing automation solutions that improve software quality throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). You'll work closely with software engineers to automate testing, validate application performance, and support the delivery of scalable, high-quality software.

This position is based in Ashburn, Virginia, and requires working onsite 2 to 3 days per week.

Why You'll Actually Care

This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale federal applications where quality and performance are critical. You'll collaborate with software engineers throughout the SDLC, develop automation that improves testing efficiency, execute performance testing using LoadRunner, and help deliver reliable software supporting important government initiatives.

If you enjoy writing Python code, solving technical challenges, and improving automation, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while continuing to grow your engineering skills.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain automated testing solutions using Python.
  • Write Python scripts from scratch to automate testing and engineering workflows.
  • Design and execute functional, regression, API, integration, and performance testing.
  • Execute and analyze enterprise performance and load testing using LoadRunner.
  • Identify application performance issues and partner with developers to resolve bottlenecks.
  • Validate APIs, backend services, and database functionality.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot software defects and participate in root cause analysis.
  • Contribute to automation best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain DHS CBP suitability.
  • 5+ years of QA automation, software testing, or SDET experience.
  • Strong Python programming skills with the ability to write automation scripts from scratch.
  • Hands-on experience with LoadRunner.
  • Experience with automated functional, regression, API, and performance testing.
  • Experience working with REST APIs, SQL, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) or another Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agency.
  • Previous federal clearance or DHS suitability.
  • Experience with Selenium, Playwright, PyTest, or similar automation frameworks.
  • Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, or other cloud-native technologies.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale government applications.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary up to $120,000, depending on experience.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Paid Time Off and federal holidays.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Opportunity to support mission-critical federal technology initiatives while working with a collaborative engineering team.
