 QA Engineer Automated 3 – Database Testing & Automation

 Location: Austin, TX 78751 (Hybrid, Onsite & Telework)
 Pay Rate: $61.44 per hour
 Contract Duration: July 6, 2026 – August 31, 2026
 Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (State Holidays Observed)
  

 

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced QA Engineer Automated 3 specializing in database testing and automation to support a high-profile technology initiative. This role will focus on developing automated testing solutions, validating database functionality, ensuring data integrity, and supporting quality assurance efforts throughout the software development lifecycle.

 

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing and executing automated database testing strategies, creating test plans and test cases, and collaborating with development and database administration teams to ensure the delivery of reliable, high-quality solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop automated tests by creating scripts that execute database testing functions.
  • Prioritize test scenarios and develop comprehensive execution plans.
  • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, test data, and testing environments.
  • Design and execute functional, performance, integration, and regression testing for database applications.
  • Identify, document, track, and report software defects and database-related issues.
  • Collaborate with development teams and database administrators to investigate and resolve defects.
  • Develop and maintain automated testing scripts and frameworks for database validation.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across multiple database systems.
  • Monitor database performance and provide recommendations for improvements and optimization.
  • Analyze requirements and update testing documentation as business and technical needs evolve.
  • Prepare detailed testing reports, analyses, diagrams, and verification documentation.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to define testing requirements and objectives.
  • Support quality assurance activities throughout the software development lifecycle.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience designing automated database tests and creating automation scripts.
  • 8+ years of experience prioritizing test scenarios and developing test execution strategies.
  • 8+ years of experience creating test plans, test cases, test data, and test environments.
  • 8+ years of experience performing functional, application, and regression testing.
  • Strong knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and software development practices.
  • Ability to interpret business and technical requirements and maintain testing documentation.
  • Strong experience with analysis, planning, reporting, and quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to quickly gain knowledge of business operations and application functionality.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Experience working directly with customers and stakeholders throughout testing cycles.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated success working with both technical and non-technical teams while managing multiple priorities.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with State Project Delivery Framework and associated documentation templates.
  • Familiarity with enterprise information architecture and information management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of software architecture, infrastructure components, and technology environments.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise database applications and testing initiatives.
