Your Opportunity

At Schwab, youre empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together. We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in Austin, TX.

Advisor Trading Technologies consolidates software development talent supporting Schwab Trading Services and Thinkpipes, bringing together engineers and quality professionals who are deeply embedded in the platforms that power trading experiences for clients and advisors. In this role, you will contribute to the quality and reliability of complex, distributed trading applications by partnering closely with software engineers, product teams, and platform stakeholders.

You will shape and execute test strategies that surface risk early and improve confidence across user interfaces, services, and data layers. This includes designing meaningful test scenarios, reproducing and debugging complex defects, and analyzing logs to isolate root causes across interconnected components. Your work will include validating service contracts, payloads, and backend data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity across systems.

Automation is central to how quality is delivered at scale. You will help build, maintain, and evolve UI and API automation that provides reliable regression coverage and integrates into CI/CD pipelines. Leveraging your understanding of financial and trading concepts such as market data behavior, charting, account workflows, and reconciliation, you will apply risk-based thinking to deepen test coverage. You will also support non-functional quality by contributing to performance, resilience, and security validation, helping ensure applications meet enterprise expectations for stability, safety, and responsible data handling.

What you have

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, test engineering, or a similar role supporting enterprise software applications
  • Experience designing test scenarios, reproducing complex defects, and debugging issues across UI, service, and data layers
  • Hands-on experience validating REST APIs, service payloads, and backend data using SQL
  • Experience building and maintaining automated UI and/or API tests, commonly using Java-based frameworks, integrated into CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with financial or trading systems, including market data, charting behavior, account workflows, or reconciliation concepts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting trading platforms or high-volume financial applications
  • Exposure to performance, resilience, or security testing, including vulnerability verification and secure logging practices
  • Experience working in agile development environments with close collaboration across QA, engineering, and product teams
