This role is an on-site position in our Elon, NC assembly facility with a base schedule of Monday through Thursday, 10 am to 9pm. Requires the ability to work overtime as needed.
What You'll Do:
The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting and testing components, subassemblies, and finished products to verify conformance with engineering drawings, specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. This role supports the manufacture and assembly of valves, regulators, and related products by identifying nonconforming material, maintaining accurate inspection records, and supporting consistent product quality and reliability.
How You'll Do It:
Perform first-piece, receiving, in-process, and final inspections of components, assemblies, and finished products.
Conduct dimensional, visual, and functional inspections and testing in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, inspection plans, procedures, and applicable standards.
Verify workmanship, assembly, identification, and other product requirements prior to release.
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and basic geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) requirements to determine product conformity.
Select and properly use appropriate measuring and test equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators, thread gages, and other inspection equipment.
Identify, document, segregate, and communicate nonconforming material and product in accordance with established quality procedures.
Support investigation of quality issues, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and verification of corrective action effectiveness.
Maintain complete and accurate inspection, test, and quality records to support product traceability and compliance requirements.
Support the calibration program by verifying calibration status of inspection and test equipment and maintaining associated records within the calibration system.
Apply established sampling plans and inspection methods, including statistical process control (SPC) techniques where applicable.
Communicate quality concerns promptly and work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other functions to resolve product quality issues.
Support continuous improvement, 6S, and other quality and operational excellence initiatives.
Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Role:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in quality, machining, manufacturing, or a related discipline preferred.
Minimum 2-3 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and basic GD&T.
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments, gages, and common inspection and testing methods.
Ability to select and properly set up appropriate measuring equipment based on the characteristic being inspected.
Working knowledge of sampling plans, SPC, and basic quality systems and concepts.
Experience identifying and documenting nonconforming material and supporting problem-solving and corrective action activities.
Strong attention to detail with demonstrated accuracy in inspection, documentation, and recordkeeping.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to recognize and communicate potential quality concerns.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with manufacturing and technical teams.
Working knowledge of 6S/5S principles and practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel and the ability to learn electronic quality and calibration systems.
Preferred Qualifications for the Role:
Experience inspecting assembled mechanical products, valves, regulators, pressure-control equipment, or similar precision-manufactured products.
Experience with functional, pressure, leak, or performance testing of manufactured assemblies.
Familiarity with LPG, NH3, compressed gas, pressure-containing products, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
ASQ Quality Inspector certification or similar quality-related training/certification.
This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
