BUSINESS DESCRIPTION:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

The QA/QC Inspector performs and assists in the physical and metallurgical tests on start-up and in-process production parts in a metal fastener facility. Perform tasks associated with the verification and validation of part quality.  

  • Performs preparation techniques of Metallurgical mounts such as grinding, cutting, polishing, etching products.  

  • Operate and interpret findings from Micro-Hardness testing equipment on prepared mounts.  

  • Performs Start-up and in-process tests on production parts. Have the ability to stop production if parts do not pass.  

  • Reads and understands print drawings and specifications for correct test requirements, procedures, and sampling plans. 

  • Verify calibration on all equipment within the lab and from the factory floor prior to use. 

  • Reports any safety violations, test equipment misuse and/or improper work to the Supervisor. 

  • Verifies and ensures that all jobs and materials have accurate information on the Manufacturing Order Route Packet prior to release to the production floor.  

  • Receive and document sample parts into the Quality Lab tracking system.  

  • Review the lab test results to ensure all operations have been properly performed and recorded.  

  • Conducts lab sampling as needed.  

  • Issue and track production gages to the manufacturing floor.  

  • Proper handling and use of low-level acids as part of the metal etching process.  

  • Attend the Material Review Board meetings when required. 

  • Sort parts in the lab if required. 

  • Supports and maintains waste elimination initiatives at the facility.  

  • Continually seeks opportunities to improve by taking advantage of available training.  

  • Attend all Company and department meetings are required 

  • Inspects fasteners for conformance to specifications by performing a variety of testing.  

  • Compares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly.  

  • Completes final inspection reports for each lot of parts.  

  • Examines material or product for surface defects such as cracks, or obvious plating defects.  

  • Verifies specified dimensions of product or material.  

  • Rejects defective parts and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag.   

  • Verifies that all required operations are complete and correct; ensure that lot integrity is maintained.  

  • Operates comparator as required to inspect parts for dimensional requirements.  

  • Completes final inspection reports for each lot of parts.  

  • Ensures compliance with all company safety rules and procedures.  

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education. 

  • Prefer minimum of 1-2 years of Metallurgical or physical laboratory experience. 

  • Understanding of test equipment and procedures to include various hand gaging equipment and desk top test equipment.  

  • Basic Microsoft Office understanding and usage. 

  • Ability and wiliness to learn new techniques and procedures.  

Compensation Information:

$21.00 - $22.40 / hour
