Key Responsibilities
· Manage and provide leadership to the QA inspectors, ensuring the team has the appropriate skills, knowledge, and training to effectively perform their responsibilities and maintain food safety and quality standards.
· Manage and maintain the site’s overall QA and Food Safety program, including GMP, HACCP, sanitation, pest control, environmental and operational controls, and other applicable programs.
· Proactively ensure compliance with FDA/USDA regulations, customer-specific quality and food safety requirements, and company standards.
· Maintain the site in a state of continuous audit readiness by monitoring QMS programs, records, and floor operations.
· Conduct regular internal GMP inspections and self-audits, identify gaps, and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly and effectively.
· Maintain effective customer communication, including timely responses and follow-up related to NCR reporting, customer complaints, quality issues, corrective actions, and other customer-specific requirements.
· Lead investigations into customer complaints, non-conformances, quality issues, and food safety incidents. Conduct root cause analysis and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
· Oversee the timely and thorough completion of CAPAs arising from customer complaints, NCRs, audit findings, internal inspections, and investigations.
· Maintain and oversee the site’s sanitation and pest control programs, ensuring required inspections, documentation, corrective actions, and follow-up activities are completed effectively.
· Implement and sustain effective quality assurance and food safety programs appropriate for the site’s operations and risk profile, including HACCP, GMP, SSOPs, Food Defense, and customer-specific requirements.
· Monitor quality and food safety performance metrics and use customer feedback, internal findings, and operational data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
· Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Warehouse, and other cross-functional teams to resolve quality and food safety issues and strengthen site compliance.
· Support the successful launch of new customer accounts, products, and projects by ensuring all applicable quality and food safety requirements are established and implemented.
· Develop and execute an annual QA and food safety training plan, including refresher training on HACCP, GMPs, CCPs, SSOPs, Food Defense, customer requirements, and other relevant food safety topics.
· Ensure QA personnel and site employees understand and consistently follow applicable food safety, quality, regulatory, and customer requirements.
· Support the site in preparing for future customer, regulatory, or third-party audits and certification requirements as applicable.
· Follow all Company health and safety policies and procedures and work in compliance with applicable Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
· Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support the ongoing success of the facility’s food safety and quality programs.
