Job Summary:

This position is responsible for coordinating the sampling, analyzing, and reporting of laboratory data. Maintain quality assurance, good laboratory practices, USDA PEPRL status, and other programs to support the SQF certification at the processing facility(s).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates outside lab testing and customer samples, as necessary
  • Maintains cleanliness of lab: clean, sweep and other housekeeping requirements
  • Maintains quality assurance laboratory programs and good laboratory practices
  • Becomes proficient and perform laboratory test methods
  • Maintains test result databases
  • Tracks supply inventory
  • Assists with employee training
  • Follows preventative maintenance schedule for calibration and cleaning of lab equipment and environment
  • Collects data, analyzes, compiles, distributes and presents reports as needed
  • Reports and takes necessary action to prevent/control food safety and food quality risks
  • Follows, verifies, and takes appropriate actions to ensure the integrity & sustained certification of the SQF System
  • Generates Certificates of Analysis for customers
  • Creates and reviews procedures for laboratory
  • Performs shelf life studies on finished product
  • Completes training and provides support, as necessary, for other Quality positions within the organization
  • Creates PO requests for laboratory supplies and services

Backup:

  • A trained designee will be appointed by management to cover for absences or vacancies; refer to Rembrandt Foods site-specific facility back-up matrix on file.

Required:

Preferred:

  • Associates degree or 2+ years’ experience in quality environment, or equivalent

Equipment:

  • Company issued PPE
  • Laboratory Equipment for analytical, microbiological, and functionality testing

  • Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan and any other programs that support the SQF system and other 3rd party audits
