QA Technician / Quality Inspector, Food Manufacturing
Location: San Leandro, CA 94577
Facility: Milk Production Plant
Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour
Shift: 1st Shift, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Schedule: Monday through Friday
Assignment Duration: Approximately 8 weeks, with potential for extension
Employment Type: Temporary, with potential for full-time conversion
Overtime: Must be available for overtime and weekend work as needed


 
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced QA Technician / Quality Inspector to support quality assurance and food safety operations at a high-volume milk production facility in San Leandro, CA.
 
This is a hands-on quality position responsible for inspecting raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products to ensure compliance with established quality standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety requirements, sanitation procedures, and company policies.
 
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in quality assurance, quality control, food manufacturing, dairy production, or a related manufacturing environment. This individual must be detail-oriented, comfortable working on the production floor, and confident identifying, documenting, and escalating potential quality and food safety concerns.
 
This assignment is initially expected to last approximately 8 weeks, with the possibility of extension and potential conversion to a full-time position.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine quality inspections of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products.
  • Perform visual inspections, product evaluations, and quality testing according to established procedures.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, GMPs, food safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Conduct production line checks, weight verifications, label verifications, code date inspections, and packaging audits.
  • Accurately document inspection and testing results and maintain required quality records.
  • Identify and report non-conforming materials, products, packaging, or production processes.
  • Place products on hold when quality or food safety concerns are identified and assist with product disposition activities.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective and preventive action, CAPA, activities.
  • Verify employee compliance with food safety, quality, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards.
  • Recognize and escalate quality and food safety concerns to appropriate leadership in a timely manner.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with established quality systems and manufacturing procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with production and quality team members in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
 
Qualifications
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, food manufacturing, dairy production, or a related production environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, GMPs, food safety standards, sanitation procedures, and quality systems.
  • Ability to perform visual inspections, product evaluations, production line checks, and routine quality testing.
  • Ability to accurately complete and maintain quality records and inspection documentation.
  • Ability to identify and escalate non-conforming products, processes, and potential food safety concerns.
  • Ability to enforce and verify compliance with food safety, quality, sanitation, and employee hygiene standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and food safety.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must be flexible and available to work overtime and weekends when business needs require.
 
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the production area.
  • Ability to bend and perform inspections in various areas of the manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
 
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has hands-on QA or QC experience within a food, beverage, dairy, or manufacturing environment and understands the importance of GMP compliance, food safety, accurate documentation, and timely escalation of quality concerns.
 
Candidates with experience performing production line inspections, packaging audits, weight checks, label and code date verification, product holds, or quality testing in a regulated manufacturing environment are strongly encouraged to apply.
