Quality Control Engineer
Pay: $65,000–$90,000 per year
Location: Near Ballston Spa, NY
Schedule: Full-time, four-day work week

About the Job

As a Quality Control Engineer, you'll be part of a team crafting transformers and power supplies for industrial products. You'll be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of products through the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust quality control processes and systems. Using your technical expertise and analytical skills, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams to identify quality requirements, establish inspection criteria, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality and customer satisfaction. Your attention to detail, adherence to quality standards, and collaboration skills will directly support the manufacturing process and customer satisfaction — put your QC skills and passion for precision to work ensuring high-quality, reliable products that help protect today's military.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material, and devise methods to assess cost and responsibility
• Develop and analyze statistical data and specifications to indicate current product standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectations for finished products
• Develop and implement quality control plans, procedures, and inspection protocols to ensure compliance with product specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
• Conduct root cause analysis and investigation of quality issues, non-conformities, and customer complaints to identify underlying causes and implement corrective and preventive actions
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to define quality requirements, establish critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics, and validate product designs and processes
• Design and execute statistical process control (SPC) studies, capability analyses, and process audits to monitor and improve process stability, capability, and performance
• Lead and support failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), risk assessments, and design of experiments (DOE) to identify potential failure modes, assess risks, and optimize product designs and processes
• Develop and maintain inspection procedures, work instructions, and quality documentation in compliance with quality management system (QMS) requirements (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100)
• Perform and compile First Article Inspections and Reports in compliance with AS9102
• Use quality tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing) to analyze data, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce defects and enhance productivity
• Provide training and guidance to production teams and quality teammates on quality control methods, techniques, and best practices
• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for products produced for assigned customers
• Act as the interface between the company and customers, and between the company and suppliers, for assigned customers
• Conduct internal audits of the quality management system
• Participate in supplier quality management activities, including supplier audits, corrective actions, and development initiatives to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components
• Support customer audits, inspections, and inquiries related to quality control processes, product quality, and regulatory compliance
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence by actively participating in quality initiatives and projects

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 4 years of related work experience in quality control or quality assurance in a military product environment
• Previous experience serving in the U.S. military in an equipment repair or QC-related role, or previous experience with military contracting/manufacturing
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must be able to work full-time
• Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance; applicants must meet eligibility requirements for access to export-controlled data
• Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and lift up to 10 pounds; occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds (reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities)
• Typically moderate noise level in the work environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in manufacturing or production environments supporting military or industrial products
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
• Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as production schedules require
• Lean Six Sigma experience
