QC Lab / R&D Lab Glassware Technician

Location: Central Islip, NY
Employment Type: Temporary, Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Schedule: Part-Time, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–12:30 PM (20 hours per week; schedule may vary based on business needs)

Position Summary

The QC Lab / R&D Lab Glassware Technician is responsible for cleaning, drying, organizing, and maintaining laboratory glassware and supplies to support daily laboratory operations. Additional responsibilities include assisting with laboratory waste management, maintaining the deionized (DI) water system, monitoring consumable inventory, and maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment.

The position operates within a pharmaceutical laboratory or manufacturing environment and requires adherence to applicable safety procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), where applicable.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean, dry, and manage laboratory glassware used in QC and R&D laboratories.

• Organize and store cleaned glassware in designated areas.

• Assist with laboratory waste management in accordance with established procedures.

• Organize laboratory supplies and maintain orderly storage areas.

• Monitor and maintain the laboratory's deionized (DI) water system.

• Monitor laboratory consumables inventory and place orders as needed.

• Maintain general cleanliness and housekeeping standards throughout the QC laboratory.

• Follow applicable laboratory safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• At least one year of experience working in a pharmaceutical laboratory.

• Prior experience with housekeeping, laboratory cleaning, and glassware cleaning.

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow laboratory procedures and communicate effectively.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Ability to learn new procedures and follow instructions accurately.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to use relevant scientific software as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in a cGMP laboratory or manufacturing environment.

• Familiarity with laboratory safety practices, supply management, and laboratory housekeeping procedures.

• Work onsite; remote work is not available.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Work in a pharmaceutical laboratory or manufacturing environment where exposure to solvents, powders, and other commonly used laboratory materials may occur.

• Wear appropriate PPE as required, which may include uniforms, lab coats, safety glasses, respiratory protection, and hearing protection.

• Stand or walk for approximately 75% or more of the work period.

• Lift and carry materials weighing up to 35 pounds.

• Safely climb and descend ladders as required.

• Work in accordance with applicable laboratory safety and cGMP requirements.
