Quality Control Inspector – 1st Shift

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to support the inspection of precision-machined components used in highly regulated manufacturing environments. This individual will perform first article, in-process, and final inspections while ensuring all products meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and internal quality standards. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced CNC machining environment and possesses strong blueprint reading, GD&T, and dimensional inspection skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on precision-machined components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements to verify product conformity.
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore gages, indicators, thread gages, plug gages, and other inspection tools.
  • Verify critical dimensions, tolerances, surface finishes, and other customer requirements.
  • Complete inspection reports and maintain accurate quality documentation.
  • Verify work orders, travelers, material certifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming material to production and quality leadership.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Work closely with CNC machinists, manufacturing engineers, programmers, and quality engineers to resolve quality concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer specifications, and internal quality procedures.
  • Maintain calibration awareness of inspection equipment and follow established quality processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve product quality and reduce defects.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical education or manufacturing coursework preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of quality inspection experience within a precision machining or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and dimensional inspection practices.
  • Proficient using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore gages, indicators, thread gages, and other inspection instruments.
  • Experience performing first article, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Familiarity with quality documentation, inspection reports, and nonconformance reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality.
  • Basic computer skills for maintaining inspection records and quality documentation.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with production and engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience inspecting aerospace or other high-precision machined components.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), including running existing inspection programs and reviewing inspection reports, is preferred.
  • Understanding of CNC milling, CNC turning, grinding, or other precision machining processes.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement and root cause investigations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequently lift and move parts weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to use measuring equipment requiring fine motor skills and visual precision.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment while following all safety procedures.
