Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to support precision manufacturing operations within the aerospace and defense industry. This role is responsible for ensuring components and assemblies meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and industry quality standards through thorough inspection and documentation processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to inspect machined components and assemblies to engineering drawings and customer specifications
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, heat treat specifications, plating requirements, welding standards, and related documentation
  • Perform incoming, first article, in-process, and final inspections on aerospace-grade components and assemblies
  • Generate and document non-conformance reports and assist with corrective action activities
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 quality standards and internal quality procedures
  • Verify manufacturing routing and documentation accuracy throughout inspection processes
  • Complete inspection records and maintain accurate quality documentation within ERP/MRP systems
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams regarding quality discrepancies and corrective actions
  • Generate First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 requirements
  • Prepare final inspection and certification documentation for customer shipments

Essential Functions:

  • Perform inspections using calipers, micrometers, thread/ring gauges, and other standard precision measuring equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Conduct inspections using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and develop inspection programs
  • Perform automated optical inspections using advanced vision measurement systems and create inspection routines
  • Interpret complex aerospace drawings and specifications while applying appropriate inspection methodologies
  • Inspect incoming raw materials and monitor shelf-life controlled products
  • Collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and manufacturing personnel
  • Support internal quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Qualifications & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading, customer specifications, and aerospace industry standards
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Ability to perform arithmetic, geometric, and algebraic calculations
  • Experience with CMM programming and inspection preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, precision machining, or regulated manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and AS9102 standards
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems and quality documentation software
