Job Title: QC Lab TechnicianJob Description

The QC Lab Technician serves as a Laboratory Technician responsible for supporting the production and quality control of diagnostic kits. This role ensures that all kits are manufactured in a timely manner and in strict compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and FDA requirements, while maintaining accurate documentation and contributing to a safe and efficient laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Produce diagnostic kits in a timely manner in accordance with Good Manufacturing Procedures and established quality standards.
  • Verify that all required raw materials, including chemicals, antigens, serums, and plasmas, are available and ready for production.
  • Carefully follow all written procedures and protocols, ensuring accuracy and compliance with FDA requirements.
  • Maintain and update all relevant documents and records to reflect current procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in cycle counts to support accurate inventory management of materials and supplies.
  • Review data generated from kit production to confirm that products are consistent and meet defined quality specifications.
  • Assist Technical Services in troubleshooting production or quality issues, providing laboratory support as needed.
  • Facilitate sample testing and kit testing in response to customer complaints or specific customer requirements.
  • Perform sample preparation, pipetting, sterility testing, and visual inspection using appropriate lab techniques and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory machines such as automated plate washers, readers, and pH meters.
  • Apply good laboratory practices to help maintain a safe, organized, and efficient working environment.
  • Interact and collaborate with all other departments to support production schedules and resolve cross-functional issues.
  • Use computer systems to record data, update documentation, and support routine laboratory workflows.

Essential Skills

  • Academic biology laboratory experience with hands-on work in a science lab setting.
  • Proficiency in sample preparation techniques for diagnostic or biological testing.
  • Strong pipette experience, including accurate measurement and transfer of liquids.
  • Experience working with glassware, labware, and common laboratory equipment.
  • Basic working knowledge of Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, and aseptic technique.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including preparation of dilutions.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed written directions and procedures.
  • Demonstrated quality control and testing experience, with attention to accuracy and consistency.
  • Ability to perform sterility testing and visual inspection to identify potential issues.
  • Capability to operate and maintain automated plate washers, readers, and pH meters.
  • Computer skills sufficient to enter data, maintain records, and support laboratory operations.
  • Science background with prior laboratory experience required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree, with a Bachelor's degree in Biology preferred.
  • Education in a scientific discipline such as Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, or related field.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices and FDA-regulated environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly.
  • Good laboratory practices to support safety and organization in the lab.

Work Environment

This position is based in a laboratory environment focused on the production and quality control of diagnostic kits. The role involves routine use of laboratory equipment such as pipettes, glassware, labware, automated plate washers, readers, and pH meters, as well as computer systems for data entry and documentation. The standard schedule is Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., for a total of a 35-hour work week. The environment emphasizes good laboratory practices, safety, and cleanliness, with regular interaction and collaboration across multiple departments.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Branchburg, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
